Some of the Theme Displays housed in the Museum
The "Ladies Display Room", (carefully arranged by Bernadette), takes one back in time to the pioneering days. Hats, Shoes, elegant Costumes, Furs, Undergarments, Sewing Machines, Bri-a-Brac are only a few of the great items donated to the Museum by local families, on dipslay.
The "Kitchen Display Room" contains many wonderful items used by our pioneers, from Kerosene Lamps to Kitchen Utensils. The Rotating Pantry from around the early 1900's will catch ones eye. No modern cons for the ladies in those days.
The "Banana Display" (displayed by Ron & Les) depicts the growning & preparing of the Banana Industry in the Tweed area.
The last week in August each year is set aside for the Tweed Banana Festival, the first having been held in 1956. This is a gala time for the Tweed with many attractive floats decorated by local businesses, schools and organisations, parading through the streets of Murwillumbah. The procession makes its way to the show grounds where a variety of attractive features and events take place, finishing off with a wonderful fireworks display.
