There are three Tweed River Historical Societies: The Tweed Heads Society & Maritime Museum at Tweed Heads, the Murwillumbah Society and Museum at Murwillumbah, and the Uki and South Arm Society, based at Uki.
The Societies have a long record of collaboration in the recording of the history of
the Tweed. Starting with the joint development of Land Records of the Valley; the
development of a Pioneer Index 1845 to 1918 for the Valley and the sharing of all
their computer based records through the Tweed Valley Integrated Database. They have
jointly published a local history and are developing their two museums in a
complimentary fashion.
The Societies are currently jointly represented on the Tweed
Shire's Cultural Committee.
This site provides a briefing on the combined activities and resources and then moves on to a individual Society by Society run down.
